Jessica Alba Chic in Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2013

Ms. Alba is definitely my favorite fashion plate at the moment. Whether she’s in the trendy-without-trying street wear she often pairs with her signature flowy, summer scarves or in ultra-chic couture, Jessica rarely, if ever, misses a fashion beat these days. Yesterday afternoon, she co-hosted a luncheon at Fred’s at Barneys in New York City to celebrate the exclusive Narciso Rodriguez Fall Shoe Collection Event. The late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was the person who was the living embodiment and expression of Narciso’s minimalist vision in her ever-faultless style, but Jessica seems to bring it to life nearly as well as CBK when wearing this sleek, white dress with subtle color-blocking from the Resort 2013 Collection. Her D’Orsay pumps are from the Fall ’12 collection: “When I saw the collection at the studio a couple of months ago, I definitely tried these on,” Alba said, gesturing to a pair of green and black pumps. “They weren’t even in my size but I was walking around in them. They’re comfortable, they’re super, super sexy and they’re modern — they’re everything.”

Jessica & The King of Minimalism

After a five-year hiatus from shoe designing, Rodriguez has some very, very, comforting news for all shoe-loving fashionistas out there: “You shouldn’t have to cry when walking around in heels.” Alba added, “Why put on a shoe that you have to take off in five minutes because they’re destroying your feet and you’re cramped! You want to wear your shoes all day, not just for five seconds.”  Narciso’s shoes are known for their pointy toes and skyscraper heels, so if he’s managed to negate the torture and agony women go through to look fabulous in heels, he’s got my business because I hate flats!

Barneys selected two bloggers, Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, and Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes, to select one shoe of their choice from the collection and style it in five different ways.
